The lineup
Forty-two days
in a pit of bark
One herd on the Otway coast, one tannery that still runs pits instead of drums. Denser leather, a burnished edge that holds without paint, and a hide that darkens rather than wears through.

The bench
one wallet at a time
Each wallet is cut, skived, glued and saddle-stitched by the same maker, whose initials go on the inside of the note bay.
Four operations, none of them machine-stitched. The order never changes, and neither does the maker between the first cut and the last burnish.
Surface Preparation
The dried leather is vigorously brushed to soften the texture.
CUTTING
The prepared hide is meticulously cut into specific wallet panels.
Saddle stitch
Heavy waxed thread is securely stitched through the aligned layers.
Final Assembly
The components are carefully assembled into the completed wallet.
The same wallet
It gets darker,
not older
Over time, the leather softens, deepens in color, and develops a rich, lustrous patina entirely unique to your journey. Built for those who appreciate objects that get better with age.
Each wallet is cut after the order lands. Ten to fourteen working days at the bench, then overnight courier within Australia and three to six days elsewhere.
Will the leather stain?
YES, but in a good way.
Bark-tanned hide is unsealed, so water and hands mark it. Those marks even out within a season and become the patina, a wallet that never marks is a wallet with plastic on it.
Is the deboss reversible?
No
The letters are pressed into the note bay with a heated brass type, no ink. It softens with age but does not come out, so it is left off gift orders unless asked for.
What does a repair cost?
Restitching and re-edging are free for as long as you own the wallet; you pay postage one way. Replacing a whole panel is quoted at cost, and we will tell you honestly when it is not worth it.
Can I return it?
Thirty days, carried and used, as long as it is not debossed. Returned wallets are repaired and sold as seconds from the workshop rather than destroyed.
